You Were Never Really Here is a haunted totem—part trap, part treasure—etched in laser-cut MDF and washed in an iridescent palette of bruised pastels. Its harsh symmetry and hypnotic silhouette suggest both protection and surveillance, a mythic glyph cast in shadow and shimmer. The surface pulses with interference, as if trying to tune into something lost, or refusing to let go.
From behind, programmable LEDs bleed light through the edges and voids, making the artwork breathe in candy-coated menace. What appears ornamental is anything but—each shape, each glow, a sigil of manufactured memory. The result is both devotional and disposable: a shrine to invisible forces dressed in consumer gloss.
A remix of mall mysticism and digital decay, the piece speaks to the looping logic of identity and illusion. It’s a wall-mounted relic from a future that already forgot you—beckoning with the familiarity of brand iconography, but whispering back in tongues.
